Bio -
I am currently a PhD candidate within The School of Psychology at the University of St Andrews. My research focuses on the social and cognitive processes involved in the formation of political and religious beliefs, and how the role of social identity and the creation and transmission of collective memories between generations plays a role in this process. I am supervised by Professor Malcolm MacLeod (Dean of Science) and Dr Sana Sheikh (Lecturer in Social Psychology), with funding through a University Scholarship.
Previous research interests at the University of Cambridge focused upon developmental religious cognition, specifically examining religious coping in children where I was a member of the Psychology and Religion Research Group and supervised by Dr Nicholas Gibson.
Previous research at the University of St Andrews where I completed my undergraduate studies focused on the psychopathology of memory, with reference to false memory and active memory suppression, supervised by Dr Elke Geraerts (Erasmus Rotterdam University, The Netherlands) and Dr Michael Anderson (MRC Cognitive Brain Sciences Unit, Cambridge).
At St Andrews I also studied Theology, and my specific interests were focused upon Practical Theology, Political Theology, and the psychological condition of sin, salvation and forgiveness on the individual.
