About
I received my MA in English (First Class) and MLitt in Women, Writing and Gender (with Distinction) from the University of St. Andrews. My research interests include the literature and culture of the nineteenth century, in particular, in the works of the Brontë sisters and Elizabeth Gaskell; the presentation of gender and sexuality; and the relationship between women, food and the body. I am currently working on my PhD thesis, entitled 'Beauty to the Bone: Female Self-Starvation in Literature and Culture 1840-1910'.
