About
I am currently in the process of completing a PhD studing Alice Perrers, the mistress of Edward III from the mid 1360's to his death in 1377.
The aims for my thesis are two fold. First, to undertake a full analytical biography of Alice's life, in particular focusing the impact of her political actions in the years leading up to the Good Parliament of 1376. Second, I will be exploring the idea that Alice became a quasi-queen during this period and the implications this had.
I am currently working at St Andrews under the supervision of Prof. Chris Given-Wilson. Prior to moving to Scotland I studied at the University of Lancaster where I gained both my B.A. and M.A. degrees. My current work is based upon research already undertaken for my M.A. dissertation. If anyone has an interest in my ideas, particularly those of 'anti' or 'inverted' queenship which are more difficult to explain in full here, I would be happy to provide a PDF of this document.
