About
Fiona McCallum works on the political role of the Christian communities in the contemporary Middle East. She gained her doctorate at the University of St Andrews, Scotland in 2006 and a revised version was published as 'Christian Religious Leadership in the Middle East: The Political Role of the Patriarch' by Edwin Mellen Press in 2010. Her research covers government integration policies towards Christian communities, identity issues, Christian political participation in the region and religious leadership. She is joint founder of the Christians in the Middle East (CME) Research Network, an initiative of the University of St Andrews and Stirling University. Her teaching interests include Conflict in the Middle East and Warmongers and Peacemakers: Religious Actors and Conflict. She is currently supervising students working on issues relating to Islamist actors in the Middle East.
