About
Fiona McCallum works on the political role of the Christian communities in the contemporary Middle East. She gained her doctorate at the University of St Andrews, Scotland in 2006 entitled 'The Political Role of the Patriarchs in the Middle East:An Examination of the Coptic Orthodox and Maronite Traditions'. Her research covers government integration policies towards Christian communities, identity issues, Christian political particpation in the region and religious leadership. She is joint founder of the Christians in the Middle East (CME) Research Network, an initiative of the University of St Andrews and Stirling University. Her teaching interests include Conflict in the Middle East and Religion, Conflict and Reconciliation. She is currently supervising students working on issues relating to Islamist actors in the Middle East.
