About
Cecily graduated with a 1st class MLitt in Women, Writing and Gender from the University of St Andrews in 2010, and is now continuing her studies here with a PhD. She specialises in contemporary feminist literary theory and the title of her thesis is ‘Bloodsong: Memory and the Body in the Novels of Hélène Cixous’. Her supervisors are Professor Susan Sellers and Professor Gill Plain. Cecily is the winner of two scholarships at the University of St Andrews and a Russell Trust Research Award which enabled her to travel to Paris to interview Hélène Cixous in November 2011. Cecily has served as the Co-ordinator of the English Postgraduate Forum (2010-2011), the Co-ordinator of the St Andrews Feminist Society (2010-2011), and as a Committee Member of the Postgraduate Contemporary Women’s Writing Network (2011). She is also a Member of the Contemporary Women's Writing Association.
Before coming to St Andrews, Cecily graduated with a 1st class BA with Honours in English and Italian Literature from the University of Warwick in 2008. She participated in study abroad programmes at the Università degli Studi di Verona and the Università delgi Studi di Bologna from 2005 to 2007. Cecily also worked at the Warwick Arts Centre as an Events Organiser (2006-2008), and completed three internships in publishing (2008-2009).
Interests: 20th and 21st Century Women Writers in English and French, Debates on Gender in Contemporary Culture, Promoting Public Engagement in the Arts, Conference Organising, Arts Events Management, Publishing, International Cultural Relations.
