Thesis Title: Morality, Rationality and The Good Life. A Kantian Approach.

About
I was born in Belem do Para, Brazil. I studied Philosophy at the UFPa (Brazil) Albert-Ludwigs Universität Freiburg (Germany) and University of Vienna (Austria) where I concluded my Magister degree in 2006.
I took a masters degree (M.Litt) at the University of St. Andrews, Scotland, and am a current Ph.D student at the same university, under the supervision of Dr. Jens Timmermann. I am now on the third year of my research, which is kindly funded by the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW).
My main research interest and great passion is Immanuel Kant, specially his moral and political philosophy. My doctoral thesis aims at casting light on the relationship of Kant's moral theory with other parts of his thought, specially his political philosophy. My thesis is that if we understand the broader picture and the place of morality within the Kantian system, we are able to understand and account for questions which are not usually associated with Kant's philosophy, for instance the question of a good human life. I also want to explore the way in which different considerations bear in practical reasoning within a Kantian framework.
I am married to Ricky Walla and mother to Clara and Sophie. I love to read, to go to conferences and give talks. When time allows, I also do some ballet classes.
